Cybersecurity

The University of Alabama Cybersecurity Clinic is a faculty-led, student-participatory organization that assists small to medium-sized organizations, especially non-profits, to defend themselves against cybersecurity attacks.

The clinic provides opportunities for trained and certified university students, under faculty guidance, to serve these organizations and obtain real-world experience in cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity remains a difficult, expensive, and complex challenge for organizations worldwide. Larger and better-funded companies are able to hire skilled cybersecurity professionals and consultants and invest the information technology hardware and software in protecting their organizations. Furthermore, more capable and progressive companies enact information security policies to protect their organizations and complement those policies with security education and training awareness (SETA) programs. However, smaller companies, and especially non-profit organizations, often lack the personnel and funds to adequately protect their organizations.
